Le Grand Abri Hideaway

Le Grand Abri is our original hideaway for two, perched towards the top of a hill, offering incredible open views across the valley and beyond. Le Grand Abri provides totally self-contained accommodation having both a fully equipped summer kitchen with a terrace and raised deck , as well as a yurt bedroom with a comfortable living space and adjacent its own private bathroom and compost toilet.

In the daytime you can enjoy relaxing on the rustic deck, perhaps interspersed by cooking up a storm in the kitchen, and at night sit out with a glass of wine and watch the shooting stars before you cosy up inside the large yurt with its comfy bed and upcycled furniture and watch the fairy lights twinkling as you drift off to sleep.

Inside the yurt is spacious and incredibly comfortable

The yurt at Le Grand Abri is light, airy and spacious inside and is set on a solid raised pine platform. The yurts are hand made by ourselves, using our own willow grown on site, with a thick, sturdy cotton canvas cover to offer the maximum protection from the elements.

The interior has been designed with couples in mind and is furnished with one comfy double bed, but we have the possibility of swapping this for two or three singles if you are visiting with a friend or two.

Rustic furniture has been found and lovingly restored and revamped to provide a unique bedroom combined with a living space, to which we have added gorgeous bed linen, rugs, solar fairy lights, bedside lanterns and plenty of books and games, as well as local information and maps to help you explore the best of this lovely area.

Summer Kitchen with Lounging Terrace and Star-Gazing Deck

The wood-framed summer kitchen is fully kitted out with everything you could need, we want you to be able to make the most of the incredible local food! Adjacent to the kitchen is a little sun terrace with loungers which leads on to the star-gazing deck so you have two places to chill out and read a book or just watch the day drift by.

Private Solar Bathroom and Separate Composting Loo

You get your bathroom all to yourselves – it’s located just behind the kitchen. The simple solar shower is open air, with walls perfectly designed to protect your modesty yet still allowing you to take in the views. There is also an alternative bathroom up at the farmhouse which has a large bathroom shared by everyone which is solar powered with electric back up so here you are guaranteed to get a hot shower whatever the time or the weather.
