Weddings, Parties and Celebrations

An earthy outdoors wedding with a woodland ceremony and a chilled out feast

Are you looking for something a little bit more individual and personal for your big day?

Would you like to tie the knot in France but aren't so keen on a formal wedding at a grand chateau?

We might have the perfect alternative for couples looking for a natural and more relaxed outdoorsy celebration!

Every year we lend a few (carefully chosen!) couples our home and smallholding to create the backdrop for a more natural and rustic one-off wedding. The great beauty of it is that you get to have a magical celebration AND at the same time have a fun and relaxed holiday with your best friends and family. And because we choose to only host a few weddings each year we can put our hearts and souls into looking after you and your guests and although it’s busy busy times for our team, we get to have a fun time too!

Woodland Ampitheatre with it’s little Stage

We have created a clearing in our small woods which is great for wedding ceremonies – wedding guests can sit on straw bales (with cushions) whilst the ceremony takes place on the little wooden platform. It’s also ideal for holding mini concerts or performances.

Under the Elms

We have a lawn under some enormous elm trees that offers shade from about 1 pm onwards, making it an ideal place for a seated banquet or for more informal meals, picnics or get-togethers!

The Courtyard and Cartshed

The large courtyard with open-fronted cartshed is another lovely space full of french character that can be used for seated dining or more informal celebrations. It is also an ideal place for evening celebrations – a live band, food buffet table in the cartshed and sofas and chairs can be scattered around the yard for anyone needing a rest from the dancing!

Festival Style Accommodation

We have 5 yurts in total situated within our eight-acre smallholding. We also have a gite which we can accommodate up to six in one double and one family bedroom. We also have two enormous tipis (6 metre diameter) and seven large (5 metre) ) bell tents.

The Boules Court

The boules court is situated behind the farmhouse and can be used for pre-dinner aperos, a tea party, the wedding meal, the ceremony or how about a boules contest!

Le Jardin Splish Splosh!

“Le Jardin Splish Splosh” (aka Foux de Fafa by Flight of the Conchords) is where everyone gets together! It has a plunge pool, log seats around a campfire, sun loungers, a large seated dining area, and a well kitted out summer kitchen that is really useful during weddings! Campfire food, fun and frivolities are what this part is all about – if you have guests who like a good old sing song this is the place to do it!

“A massive thanks to Matt and Wendy for making our daughters wedding the beautiful, magical, dream wedding she wanted. It was perfect.”

Celebrations & Get-togethers

If you’re not getting married but still want to come and join in the fun, don’t worry! Get a few of your friends on board and hire all 4 of our yurts and you will have the place to yourselves! We can also add extra accommodation to meet your needs and if you rent our gite you will also get the use of our 10m x 5m swimming pool as well as the “yurties”plunge pool in the Splish Splosh Garden! We are always open to suggestions – if you would like us to organise a special get away for you and your friends just let us know – we can organise one-off trips to nearby vineyards, food producers, and markets for example or we could put an entire itinerary together your stay. For those who are looking for a walking or cycling holiday let us know and we can rent out bikes (and a tandem) suggest routes, supply maps etc.

Learn a new skill

We occasionally run residential courses on Willow Weaving (Matt has been a willow artisan for over twenty years), Yurt Building and also Eco-Building – if you would like to know more please get in touch. We are also considering running some Life on the Farm Activity “Holidays” for people who don’t like lazing around on their holidays so let us know if that would be of interest, great if you are single and would like to meet new people and have a focus for your hols this year.

In September 2016 we also hosted a 6 night Yoga Retreat in conjunction with Gemma Hunter (yattire.com) and Purdy Smith (Unstuck Yoga – #unstuckyoga). It was a great success and we hope to get involved in a follow up once Purdy is back from her travels, so let us know if you would like to be kept up to date as things develop. We are also happy to offer our venue for other types of courses and workshops, we have spaces both indoors and outdoors suitable for perfecting yoga. learning how to meditate or perfecting your acrylic painting talents! We provide the accommodation and facilities and can offer meals for participants.
